202010 NEWZEALAND KINGFISH IRONJIGGING Swim Rider350g / ニュージーランドのヒラマサジギング［Dmitriy Kroll］

ニュージーランドのDmitriy Kroll（デミトリークロール氏）よりニュージーランドでのヒラマサジギングレポートをいただきました。

以下、レポートです。前半は親日家の彼からいただいた日本語レポート・後半が英文となります。

こんにちは、世界中の釣り好きのみなさん。ニュージーランドのデミトリーと申します。

先日、友人たちとニュージーランド北島の東海岸に位置するアルダーマン島あたりの岩礁に行ってきました。15キロほど沖にあるポイントでジギングの名所の一つとして海外からも多くのジガー達が集まる場所です。コロナの影響で今は海外からの予約はほぼ無い状態らしいですが。

私たちはオークランドから約2時間半かけてウィティアンガと呼ばれる小さい海辺の町から船を出しました。

一緒に出た友人たちは生餌釣りのみでヒラマサを狙うことを考えていたようですが、私は過去の経験からここのポイントではよくジギングの方が釣れることがあると分かっていたので、両方の準備をして行きました。

6時に出航して、まずは湾内で生餌捕りを1時間ほど行い、沖へ向かいました。穏やかな春先の温かい天候でコンディションは最高でした。

45分ほどでポイントに到着。珍しく周りには一隻もなく、コンディションが良いうえにポイントを独占出来ました。魚探で小魚の群れとそれを追うヒラマサを直ぐに発見することも出来ました。

まずは生餌釣りから始めました。直ぐにヒラマサが反応し2匹ほどかけたのですが、共にラインブレイクでロスト。。。。

そこで、私はネイチャーボーイズのスイムライダー350gを使ってジギングを開始しました。水深が70mで、中層でいきなりヒット。　

まあまあのサイズだなという感覚でした。中層だったので根に持っていかれることはないと思いながらもヒラマサの勢いを感じながらの良いファイトでした。

ドラグ設定は10-12㎏だったはずですが、それでもかなり走られました。ボート際まで持ってきた時には、直ぐ後ろにメジロザメがヒラマサを狙って追っかけてきていました。何とか、サメに食べられずにランディングも成功！推定体長120cm、重さ20kgの良型ヒラマサ。ジギングとしては上出来なサイズでした。

友人達もそれを見て、即座にジギングに変更。

幾度かサメにやられてしましましたが、13㎏-15㎏のヒラマサを数匹あげて、満足な結果となりました。

Hello, fishing enthusiasts from all over the world. My name is Dmitry from New Zealand.

The other day I went to Alderman Island in the North Island of New Zealand with my friends. 15km off the coast is a good spot for jigging and many jiggers from overseas. I heard there are no bookings from overseas due to corona.

We set sail from a small seaside town called Whitianga, about two and a half hours from Auckland.

The friends I left with were thinking of targeting sunfish with live bait fishing only, but I knew from past experience that jigging was often the better way to catch them at this point, so I went prepared for both.

We left at 6:00am and headed offshore, starting with an hour or so of catching live bait in the bay. The conditions were perfect with mild early spring warm weather.

We arrived at the point in about 45 minutes. Unusually there was not a single boat around, so we were able to dominate the point in good conditions. With a fish finder we were able to find a school of small fish and a sunfish chasing them immediately.

We started off with live bait fishing. The Hiramasa responded immediately and I caught two, but both were lost due to line breaks.

So I started jigging with a Nature Boys Swim Rider 350g. The water was 70m deep, and it hit suddenly in the middle layer.　

I felt it was a so-so size. It was a good fight, feeling the momentum of the Hiramasa while thinking I wouldn't be able to take it to the roots since it was in mid-depth. The drag setting would have been 10-12kg, but it still ran pretty well. When I brought it to the edge of the boat, I saw a whitetip shark chasing after the Hiramasa right behind me. Somehow, I managed to land it without being eaten by the shark! A good-sized yellowtail, estimated to be 120 cm long and weighing 20 kg. It was a good size for jigging.
