イタリアのフィールドスタッフ・Michele Meggiolaro（ミケレ・マジェロ）氏よりアドリア海でのクロマグロレポートをいただきました。
2020年秋、10月～11月発売予定の「NEW SURFISH220Fプロトタイプ」にて良型キャッチ＆リリースいただきました。
以下、レポートです。前半は英訳・後半が英語原文となります。

私は7月と8月のイタリアのアドリア海でのクロマグロ釣りが大好きです。
実際のところ、この時期はベストシーズンではないのだが、通常、天候と水が暑すぎて、マグロのトップウォーターの活性はほとんどゼロに近い。 しかし、それでも、適切な努力をすれば、私たちのエリアではこの数ヶ月でもいい結果を得ることができる。
ここ数週間、友人のフランチェスコ・バッキーニと彼のリブボートに乗って数日間沖合でクロマグロ釣りをしました。
私たちは "カトリカ "の町から20マイルほど沖合で、水深50メートルのところへ。
カモメもいないし、水面での反応もない。 しかし、私たちには良い勘と運があり、毎日たくさんの魚を釣り上げ、水揚げすることができた。
トップウォーターでは信じられないようなナブラを目撃し、クロマグロがルアーに乗って最高速で宙を舞う姿や、サイズの良い魚が何匹も水揚げされていました。 釣れたクロマグロは、いつものように水から出すことなく無事にリリース。
ようやく時間ができたので、最新のプロトであるサーフィッシュ220Fプロト（22cm～105g）を集中的にテストしてみました。

まずは、シングルフックで使ってみることにした。 BKK ローンディアブロ11/0フック（重量約9グラム）。 フラットウォーターでもミディアムチョッピーでも、シングルフックでの使用はとても良かった。 極端なラフコンディションでは、ベリーに4/0のトレブルを入れることでルアーに安定感を与えてくれます。

今回のルアーはワイヤーとウエイトのシステムが全く違うので、まず最初に感じたのはキャストの飛距離が格段に向上した！ということです。 どんな風のコンディションでも飛距離が出て、とても綺麗にキャストすることができました。 PE5～PE8のラインにも対応しており、PE10のラインにも対応しています（ただし、PE10のラインでは120グラム以上のルアーの方が、我々のように遠くまでキャストしたい場合には良いと思います）。

ルアーの耐久性もかなり向上しています。 数日の釣りの後、多くのストライク、アタック、魚の水揚げを経て、このルアーは新品のように見えます。 ワイヤーの強度も仕上がりも格段に向上しています。
長いスロースワイプ、ポーズ（2秒）、スロースワイプ、短いロッドスティックやトゥイッチ、それぞれのスティックの間に小さなポーズを入れてのスロースワイプ、あるいは「ステイ」の状態で待っている状態でのリトリーブなど、様々な種類のリトリーブがありました。
ポーズ中にルアーを口にくわえたまま数メートル垂直に飛び出してきた魚もいたが、それは最高でした。

I love fishing bluefin tuna in July and August in Italy in the Adriatic Sea.
Actually is not the best season at all, usually the weather and the water are too hot and the topwater activity of tunas is almost close to zero. But still, with the proper dedication, you can have some nice results even in these months in our area.
Last couple of weeks, I spent a few days fishing offshore for bluefin tuna with my friend Francesco Bacchini on his rib boat, and we had some great time !
We were fishing about 20 miles offshore from the city of “Cattolica”, on about 50 meters of water. There was absolutely nothing: no seagulls, no topwater activity, just nothing. But we had some good intuitions and some luck and we were able to raise and land many fish on each day!
We witnessed unbelievable topwater takes, with bluefin tuna full airborne at max speed on lures and many good size fish landed. As usual, all the Bluefin Tunas caught have been released safely without taking them out of the water.

I finally had time to intensively test the latest prototype of the new version of the Surfish Paulownia (22 cm - 105 grams).

I decided to try using it with single hooks: BKK Lone Diablo 11/0 hooks (weight about 9 grams). It worked just great with both flat water and medium choppy conditions with single hooks.. In extreme rough conditions, a 4/0 treble in the belly gives a lot of stabilization to the lure.
The new version of the lure has a completely different wire and weight system, and the first feeling was that the casting distance is improved a lot! I was able to cast very nicely with any kind of wind condition, and flight distance was always very nice. Perfect for PE5 to PE8 lines, very good also for PE10 lines (but I have to admit that with PE10 lines I prefer 120+ grams lures if you need to cast very far like for our kind of fishery).
The durability of the lure is also improved a lot! After a few days of fishing, with many strikes, attacks, fish landed, the lure looks like brand new. Both the wire and the finish looks much stronger.
In these days I had many attacks on the new Surfish, and on many different kind of retrieve: long slow swipe, pause (2 sec), slow swipe; or very short rod stabs or twitch, with small pauses between each stab; or just in “staying” position and waiting: the rolling effect of the lure is improved, especially when in “pause”, so the “stay” works very nice! One fish came on the Surfish from the deep, jumping vertically out of the water for a couple of meters with the lure on its mouth during the pause, it was just great !
